Andrea (MX, 1996) is an interdisciplinary designer and artistic researcher who investigates materials to understand their role with site-specific contexts. Materiality is the core of her practice, serving as a language to propose critical narratives and design concepts that communicate local knowledge. Combining material research with journalism and design, she develops interdisciplinary projects through installations, video, writing, and material experimentation. Her work connects regional knowledge with global dialogues on social urgencies such as migration, climate change, and gender-based violence.
Alongside her artistic research, Andrea works as a freelance designer and independent artist. Her professional experience includes working with and collaborating on projects for studios and organisations such as Foundation We Are, delaO design studio, Reach Network, Space10, What Design Can Do, and Spotify.
She graduated from the Geo-Design Master's degree at the Design Academy Eindhoven and is currently based in Eindhoven (NL).
“The exploration of natural and social systems through material research and contextual investigation allows me to reveal unseen perspectives that connect with invisible systems. These perspectives can help to connect with communities and enrich creative processes, critical dialogues, and decision-making. Through my practice, I collect local stories that challenge conventional narratives and trigger multidisciplinary conversations around pressing social and ecological issues.”
